When in Wien...

Greetings loved ones, let's take a journey...

Yesterday Lucia, Henry, Qian, Josie, and Megan traveled to Vienna for the weekend, as we have a free weekend (our midterm was this past Friday and the homework was short). Half of our Number Theory pals stayed in Budapest and one lucky girl (AKA our roommate Andree) hopped on a plane to Amsterdam. Have fun, Andree!

This morning we woke up and jumped on the metro to St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna. Let me tell you, it was CHILLY in Vienna this morning! We finally found a nice breakfast joint to try out Vienna's famous pastries and coffee. For Frustruck, Lucia ordered a soft boiled egg and two rolls with jam. Meg got pancakes with powdered sugar, Josie got an omelette, and both Henry & Qian ordered the "Vienna Brunch" which came with generous portions of bread, eggs, and meat.

After breakfast, the gang walked to the Opera -- a famous landmark in Vienna. Inside the Opera is a charming cafe with (you guessed it) pastries, coffee, and tea! Henry ordered an espresso with whipped cream, Lucia got chamomile tea, Meg & Qian got cake, and Josie ordered a tasty cappuccino. Yum!

After the second cafe of the day, we regrouped back in our apartment we are renting for the weekend.

We decided to check out the Museum of Illusions. There were tons of interactive exhibits.

We then walked to the Volksgarten, a public park and garden. We walked around and saw interesting and historic buildings including museums, palaces, and parliaments. There was even an ice rink with many tracks; one even went over a bridge.

For dinner, we ate at a traditional Viennese restaurant; cue heaps of potatoes, meat, and more potatoes.

Thanks for tuning in today, and we wish you all a fabulous weekend!
