Classes and Classes and Classes Oh My!

Szaisztok! (Hello!)

Let us introduce ourselves:
Nolen, the vaguely confused.
Fred, the lover of meats and sugar.
Kendall, the sleepless.
Henry, the indecisive.

With our powers combined we are room 752, or, in Hungarian, room hét százötvenkettő.

Today marked our first Hungarian (magyar) language lesson taught by the wife of our previous tour guide from room 352's post. We started out naming some Hungarian words we have encountered in the past 3 days. Some words in this list were: tolni (push), igen(yes), sör (beer), and alma (apple).

Double chalkboards for the win!

We then got these awesome language booklets where we learned the Hungarian alphabet.

Fred's being a good student and already marked his booklet! Go Fred!

At noon we ventured out for lunch and was able to use some of the phrases we just learned from our lesson. Unfortunately, our attempt to order food in Hungarian was less than successful. Never the less, we enjoyed some Gyros and kabobs or "kay-bobs,"in the parlance of our times.

For math class we got into the nuts and bolts of number theory. If you don't believe number theory is awesome, let us prove it to you! We explored aspects of the greatest common divisor between pairs of numbers. We also got our hands dirty in proof writing, some of which were long...

This proves the Linear Combination-Greatest Common Divisor Theorem (LCDGCDT for short)
Do we completely understand this proof? Yes and no... 8/10 would recommend office hours.
To conclude class, we worked in groups of three to complete a worksheet. Upon returning to the hotel, we started the day's homework. Some finished, some fell asleep (Fred).

Our loyal compatriot Kendall was swept away by our boi Bruce to some fine dining with a select group of students.

"After a long day of classes, it was very relaxing to have dinner with professor Hanson, Jill, and three other classmates. It was a fun time where we joked about sports, discussed how to improve the trip, and learned more about each other."-Kendall

As for the rest of us, festivus.

Stay tuned tomorrow for another exciting, but not as exciting, installment in the blog, same Buda-time, same Buda-channel!
