Day two was pretty eventful! We started off the day by eating breakfast as a room and meeting a young British girl who talked to us about her stuffed cat. Highlight of our day. After breakfast, we met up with our class, Emese, and some Hungarian students. Emese gave a presentation on Hungarian culture, politics, and history. After this, we departed with the Hungarian students and walked to the Castle District on the Buda side of the city. Today it was snowy, so the walk was a little chilly and slippery up the hill, but we all made it!
At the top of the hill, we ate lunch at a restaurant called Vár Bistro.
After lunch, we went on a tour of the Museum of History in the Castle District. We learned about the history of Hungary, Budapest, and the Castles in Budapest.
After this, we left with a Hungarian student named Barna and went and looked at the view over the Danube of the Pest side. We explored the castle district a little more with Barna leading us and enjoyed the view of the Pest side.
A few of us wanted to observe the Demonstration, so we took a bus back over to the Pest side near Erzsébet tér and got there right in time to see the front of the protest pass. We watched for at least 20 minutes, and never saw the end of the train of people, so it definitely lived up to the estimates of thousands of people participating.
After we stood and observed the protest for a while, we walked back to the hotel. We went to dinner as a group and are now finishing the homework for Monday.
